Presidential Qualifications
A lot of people are talking about which candidate is more qualified to be President of the United States of America. Fact is, they’re all qualified. Every natural born citizen of the United States who is over 35 is qualified to be President.
If you think experience in office is the best way to judge a person’s ability to lead, then McCain is your guy. If you think charisma and inspiration is more important, then Obama is your guy. For the Vice Presidential nominees, overall experience would go to Biden, but if executive experience is more important to you, then Palin is your gal.
I think all the candidates would be just fine as POTUS when it come to being a manager. No worse or better than any other President we’ve had. However, when it comes to the direction in which each candidate will want to lead the country, I don’t like any of them. They’re all the same breed of politician, and I think the status quo is quite stale.
I like the Libertarians because there’s a philosophy I mostly support behind each candidate, and I like knowing that the candidate subscribes to that philosophy before being allowed to run for the party. I don’t think there’s a philosophy for either the Democrats or the Republicans, so they can do whatever is in their own best interests without any qualms or any sense of betrayal to their party, their constituents or themselves.
Yes, everyone is qualified to be President of the United States of America, regardless of experience, beliefs or health. The trick is, you have to convince the rest of us that you’re good enough to lead the most powerful nation on Earth.
