The Republican Health Plan (Is Still Unconstitutional)

The Republican Plan

Republicans claim that the health care plan that they have, I think it is H.R. 3400 or H.R. 4400, can save more money, cover more people, and reduce the deficit more than anything that the House and Senate have out. Is there any way the CBO can score this and can your team research the bills to see about their claims?

FactCheck.org responds: The Congressional Budget Office hasn’t scored H.R. 3400, but it has analyzed the Republicans’ proposed “amendment in the nature of a substitute” for the House bill. CBO found that the proposed substitute would cost much less than the Democrats’ bill — a net cost of $8 billion over 10 years — and would reduce the ranks of the nonelderly uninsured by about 3 million, leaving 52 million uninsured by 2019. The bill passed by the House is projected to have a net cost of $891 billion and reduce the uninsured by 36 million. The CBO estimated that the GOP plan would reduce the deficit by a net $68 billion over 10 years, while the House-passed plan would reduce the deficit by more — a net $109 billion.

via FactCheck Mailbag, Week of Nov. 3-Nov. 9.

According to this unconstitutional math, $8 Bil to pay off 3 Mil non-seniors and reduce deficit by $68 Bil vs $891 Bil to pay off 36 Mil people and reduce deficit by $109 Bil.

Why am I paying for any of this shit?

Can The Government Force You To Buy Anything?

WASHINGTON - JUNE 29: Tourists and demonstrat...

If the President and the progressive Democratic party get their way every one in America will be forced to purchase health care whether they wish to or not.  There are those who point to the fact that many states require drivers to buy liability insurance for your car as evidence that the government can force you to purchase health care. One problem with that opinion is the reason for forcing people to buy car insurance is to protect the “other guy.” Hence liability insurance is required but collision. which protects your own car is not.

If Obamacare is passed the only way to stop the government from taking over your health care, rationing medical treatment and taxing you out of existence may rest in the Supreme Court. The big question is does the constitution allow the government to force us to purchase something?  If so where is the line. Instead of mothers, will it be the federal government forcing children to eat their veggies? Now that we own GM and Chrysler, can we be forced to purchase one of their cars?

Our constitution was written to keep government OFF our back, is heathcare the government’s opportunity to jump back on our shoulders ?:

via Can The Government Force You To Buy Guacamole ?.

That’s what I’ve been sayin’, yo! It’s unconstitutional all the way. If the whole point of the United States Constitution is to limit government power, how can all these huge expansions of power be in the spirit of the Constitution, let alone the letter of the Constitution? Limited government is the only way to keep your liberty.

Extremists More Willing To Share Their Opinions, Study Finds

People with more extreme liberal views in the community may be more likely than others to attend publicly visible protests and display bumper stickers espousing their liberal views, because they think the community supports them.

WTF, Duh?! How obvious is that?

Lakeland FL Election: Candidate Residency Matters

Location in Polk County and the state of Florida
Image via Wikipedia

Phillip Walker and Ricky Shirah are free to claim residence wherever they like. Two weeks from Tuesday, it will up to the voters to place them where they belong.

via Lakeland Election: Candidate Residency Matters | theledger.com | The Ledger | Lakeland, FL.

I ask you, is it a prerequisite that people seeking public office be liars?

“Uh, my permanent residence is here, where I get all my mail and homestead exemption.”

“So you live outside the area you want to serve.”

“Uh, well, I actually live over here. Uh….”

“We’ve got all this evidence that points to you not living there.”

“Uh… uh…”

Stay tuned till next week when we see what else these dolts can lie to us about.

Seriously, why won’t people with scruples run for public office? That sounds like a man-on-the-street opinion poll project.

Chuck Welch Does What All Good Investigative Reporters Should

Wednesday night I published an article on Lakeland Local. I was told an office had discovered an advertisement that made it appear a candidate for Lakeland City Commission had his home for sale. On Thursday, the candidate objected to the article. I asked for answers or comment from the candidate. Though I was confident in the accuracy of the article, I offered to hold the article from display while he readied a response. I asked for a response by an 8am deadline.

I received no return calls or emails. I reinstated the article this morning.

The following is for readers who would like to see the process both before and after publication:

Chuck refuses to get punked by a politician and brings the honor back to reporting. That’s not to say that reporters aren’t honorable as a rule, but there have been too many reporters throwing out fluff and not bringing the public enough substantial reporting. By explaining the processes he used to bring the article to us, he gives the reader a full version of events and of his reporting — and basically makes James Goetz show us how much of  a useless fool he really is. If he’s this unresponsive to a reporter about a serious issue, we can expect him to be far less responsive to the general public if he gets elected.

It’s reporting like this that makes or breaks political campaigns and careers, and Chuck Welch puts his community above the politics. Well done, Chuck.

Big ups to LakelandLocal.com.

Update 20091014: Has Goetz resigned the campaign?

John Stossel Moving to Fox

John Stossel is moving to Fox, and I don’t know if I like that. Having him at ABC was an equalizer, making him more legit. Now that he’ll be on Fox, those who disagree with his views on personal liberty will just say he’s a typical conservative partisan, yada yada yada. On ABC, he was the odd man out, and it seemed to give him more credibility and ABC the image of being less partisan, but now the molecules have aligned to their “proper” place. Eh.

He’s not always right, but he’s better than a lot of the opinion makers on MSM giants, so I’ll probably watch him on Fox to see what he says.

20091105: What did I say? It’s okay to tell me I’m right….

I made The New York Times last week. It even ran my picture. My mother would be proud.

Unfortunately, the story was critical. It said, “Critics have leaped on Mr. Stossel’s speaking engagements as the latest evidence of conservative bias on the part of Fox.”

Which “critics” had “leaped”? The reporter mentioned Rachel Maddow. I wouldn’t think her criticism newsworthy, but Times reporters may use MSNBC as their guide to life. He also quoted an “associate professor of journalism” who said my speeches were “‘pretty shameful’ by traditional journalistic standards.” All this because I spoke at an event for Americans for Prosperity (AFP), a “conservative advocacy group.”

It is odd that this is a news story. In August, AFP hired me to do the very same thing. I give the money to charity. The Times didn’t call that “shameful.”

But in August, I worked for ABC News. Now, I work for Fox. Hmmm.
